Services

I specialize in academic editing and translation in the humanities and qualitative social sciences. My own academic expertise is in anthropology, food studies and environmental studies, but I regularly work with clients in other fields, including history, literature and development. I also offer general non-fiction editing services.

I am particularly passionate about helping non-native English speakers produce texts that can succeed within a predominantly Anglophone publishing environment.

I am available to edit or translate:

  • theses (editing only)
  • dissertations (editing only)
  • journal articles
  • books
  • book chapters
  • grant proposals
  • calls for papers
  • essays
  • opinion pieces

I also transcribe audio files, e.g. research interviews or podcasts.

Rates

Before beginning work on your text, I will propose a personalized quote based on your specific needs. As a guideline, my rates are in line with the suggested hourly rates published by the Chartered Institute for Editing and Proofreading and the National Union of Journalists Freelance Fees Guide.

There is a 20% surcharge for rush jobs.

For work that requires substantial checking of ‘official’ quotations (e.g., in published translations), I charge an additional hourly rate of £25/€28 per hour.

I am able to offer my services at a reduced rate to a limited number of self-funding PhD students and early-career researchers without a university position.
